Billion Oyster Party: 2022

The Billion Oyster Project is an organization committed to restoring oyster reefs to the New York Harbor in collaboration with New York communities. The project aims to engage hundreds of thousands of students, teachers, and community scientists in marine restoration-based STEM education programs and involves 75+ restaurants in an oyster shell recycling program, which provides the project with shells for use in building new reefs.

This year’s celebration in the Brooklyn Navy Yard is a commemoration to the organization and its supporters’ efforts. Over 50 oyster farms from throughout the country showcased their oysters, and a number of area restaurants served up some insanely delicious seafood. This was an amazing experience celebrating such an awesome accomplishment.
